When I was building my Astrology practice over a decade ago, there were moments I’d feel overwhelmed with gratitude for the opportunities that were being presented.
But there were also certain existential moments that led me to question how the hell I had even arrived at this point in my life and career.
You see, I started off managing political campaigns and working for the government after getting my bachelor’s degree in political science.
From there, I obtained a master’s degree in education and human development, which got me a sweet gig managing a high school exchange program in countries throughout the Middle East and Northern Africa that was funded by the U.S. State Department – it’s how I met my Palestinian sisters and brothers whom I am still friends with today.
After traveling to Palestine in 2016 – the same year Donald Trump was elected for his first term – my career in politics circled back in the form of activism, which is what led me to get certified as a diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) professional.
Eventually, having established my practice part-time while getting my spiritual life coaching certification, I was ready to leap into a new professional chapter as a solo-entrepreneur.
People used to ask how I got to where I am, and where all of these roads met.
I’d respond with the talking point that it was all just a, “series of random yet fortunate events.” But to be honest, I was pretty confused myself; none of it made sense to me at the time.
Fast forward to now, and it seems all of my worlds are colliding with a force – Astrologer, Life Coach, Activist. It’s at once daunting, affirming, and clarifying.
All the disparate parts of me are coming together. The roads are intersecting with greater ease, and I am standing right at the center.
And so, as I continue to look ahead, tracking planet alignments above and how they are affecting us in real time, coaching folks through the upheaval we’re navigating, recalling history, direct actions, and political battlefields I’ve traversed in the past, it is through these various lenses that I can confirm with confidence the following:
1. The end of democracy as we know it is here. It has been for years.
My therapist reminded me a few sessions ago that technically we – the people – are the democracy, which restored my hope after the presidential elections of 2024. It’s the democratic systems that govern who we are as a nation that are defunct. We can no longer rely on them to see us through this chaos. It will fall on us – the people.
2. No democrat, republican, government official or “leader” can save us.
Yes, there are folks out there who have been ride-or-die for our country, sounding alarms and consistently in our corner (ahem Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-TX.). But these changes are bigger than them too, so much so that at the moment, it is difficult to even name what will actually save us. Thus, we must think and strategize beyond what we’ve always known. We must liberate ourselves.
3. Things will get harder.
Astrological projections are clear: this does not end in four years. The more we clench to what was, and the longer we sit with our shock, the harder it will be to accept what is, and ready ourselves for what’s ahead. If we want things to end in our favor, we’re going to have to do hard things in our favor.
4. Courage and audacity will be required.
Believe it or not, the human spirit is stronger than fascists – history has shown us this time and time again. We’re more resilient than not, and we must become more audacious, as well. Playing small has no place in the revolution. We must dare to dream big (just as Donald Trump is currently doing).
5. This too shall pass.
History has shown us this, as well. We won’t be here forever; in fact, forever will come much faster if we act fast.
6. Since we are here, it is where we’re supposed to be.
So many are asking, “how did we get here,” and it’s unfortunate that many still do not know. We must reconcile our past in order to make manifest the future we envision, and we must simultaneously live in the now - welcome to paradox. So, how will you live, now? Who will you be, now? How will you show up, now?
7. While we are here, we best start naming, claiming, and acting on the future we envision.
Consider this an opportunity to give birth to the world we want to live in – a world that serves all of its inhabitants. The battle for our world will, indeed, be formidable. We’ll have to sacrifice some things to get there, and plan for the long haul. But it begins by stating out loud for the cosmic record what we’re hoping to achieve, standing firm in what we will not tolerate.
8. The distractions will continue to be fast, furious, and intentional.
The doubling down on this modern-day coup demands a doubling down on our faith, our discipline, our self-care, our solidarity, and the communities we build for safe-haven and successful resistance.
9. Some won’t make it.
There are those who may not survive these times – mentally, physically, and spiritually. This point isn’t to scare you; it is a reminder to check on your people, and to pray for those people who prefer ignorance over truth (we can’t save them).
10. We all have a role to play in the birthing of this new world.
The astrology of the times clearly indicates global evolution and transformation that demands we, too, evolve and transform. What does that look like?
Confronting, healing, and reconciling the past.
Living in the present, no matter how difficult things are at present.
Claiming, living, and embodying your unique God-given gifts so that you might be of service as the birth/death doula you are, responsible for this world that is both yours and mine.
Moving past fears.
Understanding that we actually do need you.
Standing in your truth so that others will stand in theirs.
Living your truth so that the world is no longer a lie.
My faith tells me that this is a developing story – one that is unknown, uncertain, and divinely orchestrated. We’re only just beginning, like it or not, but we are the authors.
What story will you tell?
Thank you for putting this down in words. All of this but especially 2 & 3.
Thank you for saying the very difficult parts out loud.
